Lowes Court has been a charitable association for over 40 years supporting local Cumbrian arts
and crafts people providing exhibition space and outlet for selling their work. The duality of the Art
Gallery and Tourist Information Point means that it is a very useful place to visit. The building is unique
and sets off the exhibitions beautifully.
Art and Craft Sales
All work displayed in the Gallery is handmade. Members’ artwork is displayed
on rotation in the upstairs gallery, and the shop downstairs sells unique and unusual
crafts and gifts from pottery, hand-sewn bags , jewellery, woollen rugs, to hand turned,
bowls and spoons . The offer is constantly changing and many are one-offs, so there are
always new things to see. One visit is never enough
We support local artists with a programme of an average of 12 exhibitions every year:
We also invite all-comers to display and sell their work
in our Christmas craft market during November and December, making Lowes
Court the number one destination for totally unique Christmas gifts
Lowes Court Gallery is a membership organisation and almost entirely run by volunteers, from manning the shop to
mounting exhibitions and inputting data. To see how you can get involved send us your details from the contacts
page with your area of expertise/interest.
